Autumn festival

HEALESVILLE’S annual autumn festival will be held at the Healesville Railway Precinct on Saturday.
The Healesville Autumn Festival, run by the Healesville Organic Farmers’ Market, welcomes one of the loveliest times of year in the Yarra Valley.
It also celebrates the sixth birthday of the Organic Farmers Market, which runs every Saturday at the railway station.
Over the years, stallholders have battled rain, hail, wind, and scorching temperatures to provide locals with a dazzling array of healthy organic food and a relaxed environment in which to catch up with friends.
Festival co-ordinators Andrew and Heather Djurovic said the festival, like the market, had grown organically.
“We know that people yearn to feel connected to the earth – it is something that is often missing from our daily lives,” Heather said. “The autumn festival is a way of reminding us that the seasons shape our lives and our activities with the date being the closest Saturday to the Autumn equinox,” Andrew added.
Regular stallholders will be joined by heaps of extra stalls to inspire and celebrate autumn. There will be a variety of entertainment, informative displays, art and craft, jewellery, buskers, children’s activities, and stalls selling great tucker.
Food stalls will include crepes, organic pork sausages, chai tea, Mexican hot chocolate and much more. So, forget breakfast at home and join other festival-goers for a relaxing breakfast down by the station. One of the most popular aspects of the festival is back – the opportunity for children and adults to see and hear about domestic animals such as goats, pigs and chooks. The Healesville Autumn Festival runs from 8am through to 2pm on Saturday, 20 March.
