A MELBOURNE-BUILT supercar with a top speed of 320km/h and a Swiss speedster that adapts to a driver’s emotions are just two of the attractions at this year’s Melbourne International Motor Show.
The show, which was first held back in 1925, will take place at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in Southbank from Thursday, 9 to Sunday, 19 February.
This year’s motor show will feature Australia’s passenger car manufacturers and major vehicle importers, with a total of approximately 500 vehicles on show.
But the motor show has always been an opportunity to check out the car of your dreams – or even beyond your wildest dreams – and also has a reputation for celebrating innovation and imagination.
One of the star attractions will be the Aussie born and bred Redback Spyder.
With a top speed of 320km/h and a custom Chev V8 developing over 300kW, the Spyder weighs less that 1000kg and can hit 100km/h in under four seconds.
The Swiss-designed Rinspeed Senso is also set to turn heads, with its Boxster S engine capable of 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. But it’s this car’s softer side that makes it stand out.
The Senso senses the driver’s mood by measuring biometric data and then uses patterns, colours, music and fragrances in a bid to make the driver more relaxed and alert.
Some of these creations have to be seen to be believed and the Mail is offering readers the chance to do just that.
The Mail has 10 double passes to the Melbourne International Motor Show to give away.
All you have to do is answer the question below and send it, along with your name, address and telephone number, to MIMS Competition, The Mail, PO Box 470, Healesville, 3777. Entries must be received by Friday, 27 January.
