HEALESVILLE RSL has been recognised for the ‘mateship’ it showed to bushfire affected communities during last year’s February fires.
The Licensed Sub-Branches Association’s inaugural Mateship Award was presented to RSL representatives at the association’s Hall of Fame dinner by General Peter Cosgrove and Major-General David McLachlan.
RSL manager Peter McPhee said the award recognised the work carried out from the weekend of the fires and for many months afterwards by RSL staff, management and commitee.
“The work is still ongoing,” Mr McPhee said. “Families from the fire-affected areas were special guests at our annual Christmas party in December.”
Long-time RSL staff member Deryl Moloney was also recognised at the ceremony for outstanding service to the sub-branch.
