SHERBROOKE Community School students are among hundreds of cyclists taking on the Great Ocean Road this week.
A team of 12 students, two teachers and two parents will represent the Sassafras school on the 550km Great Victorian Bike Ride.
The squad left early on Friday 27 November morning for the trek from Portland to Geelong. They’ll arrive in the coastal hub on 6 December.
Teacher George Vlamakis suggested the students give the ride a go and will accompany them on the journey.
“It’s such a great challenge,” he said. “It’s an awesome adventure and a huge experience.”
Scott, 15, signed up to compete against his brother John, 16, and father.
Tim, 17 said he was looking forward to the challenge.
“Before I hadn’t been on a bike for three or four years,” he said.
Tammy, 16, also wanted to test herself.
“And it seemed like fun,” she said.
