MONBULK started well and finished well, but it was Woori Yallock’s four goals in the second quarter and four goals in the third quarter that sealed Monbulk’s fate. Monbulk could only manage one goal in the second and two goals in the third.
Woori went into half time just one goal ahead and turned that into a 21-point lead at the last change. Woori started the better in the final term and stretched their lead early, but all of a sudden Monbulk sparked into action. Monbulk started to get the loose man going and came back at Woori in a hurry.
Monbulk kicked the last goal of the game to close the gap to four points but, with only two seconds on the clock, Woori Yallock held on to win in what was a great game of football.
Woori Yallock 14.9.93 d Monbulk 13.11.89.
Best: Woori Yallock: T. Willliamson, M. Riseley and D. Ryan. Monbulk: S. Koole, D. Cleven and J. Fraser.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:SENIORS’ ELIMINATION FINAL

A great spectacle put on by Mount Evelyn and Healesville, with nothing in it deep into the final quarter. With the game being played in trying and windy conditions it was a real credit to the teams that they put on a game as high class as this was.
Mount Evelyn’s form coming into finals has been patchy at best but they saved their best form for the last quarter. The Mounters held just a three-point lead going into the final term and then finished off the day full of run kicking 6.3 to Healesville’s 2.2 to finish the day in convincing fashion and will take plenty of confidence going into next week’s game.
Healesville would be disappointed to have bowed out in the first week of finals but they certainly weren’t disgraced and will be looking forward to improving even further in 2010.
Mount Evelyn will now take on Monbulk next week to see if they can go one step deeper into the finals.
Mount Evelyn 14.14.98 d Healesville 10.10.70.
Best: Mount Evelyn: J. Barden, C. Tesoriero, S. Jones. Healesville: B. Wilkinson, C. Barclay, J. Conrau.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:RESERVES’ QUALIFYING FINAL

Monbulk’s clash with Healesville wasn’t a pretty game to watch but the attack and the pressure put on by both sides was first class. Healesville had their chances but a wasteful 1.6 first quarter followed a 2.5 second quarter hurt them by the final siren.
Monbulk on the other hand had kicked just 4.2 by half time but Healesville’s 3.11 kept Monbulk right in the game. Monbulk’s third term was terrific as they slowly got on top of the Bloods with a five-goal-to-two third term to take a 15-point lead.
Monbulk kicked two goals to one in the last quarter to win by 22 points and leave Healesville lamenting an inaccuracy in front of goal that cost them dearly.
Monbulk 11.7.73 d Healesville 6.15.51.
Best: Monbulk: C. Broekhof, D. Smethurst, J. Creed. Healesville: A. Taylor, T. Campbell, C. Arnott.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:RESERVES’ ELIMINATION FINAL

Unfortunately wet and windy conditions didn’t help this game reach any great heights. There were only four goals kicked up to half time, Gembrook with three and Mount Evelyn with one.
Gembrook always seemed to be that little slicker and they proved that in the third term with three goals, holding Mount Evelyn to just two behinds.
Gembrook continued that form into the last quarter with another three goals to the Mounter’s one to win comfortably by the final siren.
Gembrook Cockatoo 9.6.60 d Mount Evelyn 2.7.19.
Best: Gembrook: E. Tomlin, A. Moore, M. Croaker. Mount Evelyn: T. Black, S. Hajdu, S. Piggott.

Division Two

@BT Sport Sub Mail:SENIORS’ SECOND SEMI-FINAL

OLINDA Ferny Creek and Kinglake have been the best all year and the skills on display showed why.
Olinda got off to a flying start, which proved to be the difference in the end. Olinda kicked 7.5 to 4.1 in the opening quarter to take a 22-point lead. By the end of the day Olinda had only increased that lead by one point, to win by 23 points.
The last three quarters were a real arm-wrestle with Kinglake looking threatening at times but Olinda answering every challenge to maintain their lead right to the final siren.
Olinda now march through to the grand final as Kinglake take on Seville for the second time in three weeks to see who will earn the right to play off in the big one.
Olinda Ferny Creek 17.15.117 d Kinglake 14.10.94.
Best: Olinda: G. Stevens, D. Troutman, A. Evans. Kinglake: M. Thomas, A. Carpenter, G. Murphy.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:SENIORS’ FIRST SEMI-FINAL

Unfortunately the heroics of Yarra Junction’s Tyson Wheeler – kicking seven of his team’s 12 goals – wasn’t enough to secure them victory over Seville.
At quarter time it was Seville by nine points, half time Seville by 10 points, three-quarter time Seville still by 10 points.
Junction now will put their feet up and look toward 2010, as Seville prepares to take on Kinglake with the victor progressing to the grand final.
Seville 13.15.93 d Yarra Junction 12.9.81.
Best: Seville: M. Holly, A. Abbruzzese, D. Troyahn. Yarra Junction: D. Edwards, T. Selby, T. Barton.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:RESERVES’ SECOND SEMI-FINAL

Yarra Glen would have been happy to keep Olinda Ferny Creek to its second lowest score of the season, (the previous being 4.10 way back in round one).
Unfortunately Yarra Glen also kicked one of its lowest scores of the season and couldn’t put scoreboard pressure on when they had the chance.
This was a bruising affair with both sides finding it impossible to gain an easy kick. At three-quarter time Yarra Glen had had one more scoring shot than Olinda but still trailed by 15 points.
Yarra Glen had their chances to be closer at three-quarter time but a wasteful 1.5 in the third cost them any chance they may have had kicking into a breeze in the last.
Olinda kicked away in the last with a three-goal term and will be thankful for the week off as they prepare for the grand final.
Yarra Glen now take on Kinglake for the third time in five weeks and should be confident, having accounted for them in those three games.
Olinda Ferny Creek 8.8.56 d Yarra Glen 2.9.21.
Best: Olinda: B. Green, F. Maaskant, R. Sloan. Yarra Glen: R. Young, M. Culhane, J. Marks.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:RESERVES’ FIRST SEMI-FINAL

Seville started the better of the two sides and held a 10-point lead at the first change but after that it was all Kinglake.
The Lakers booted five goals to one in the second term to take a 15-point lead into half time. Another five-goal-to-one third term from Kinglake had them in complete control as they went into the last quarter with a 37-point lead.
Seville never looked like getting back into the match as Kinglake stretched their lead even further in the final term to win by an impressive 43 points.
Seville will now rest up over the summer months as Kinglake prepare to take on Yarra Glen in what should be a cracking match.
Kinglake 13.13.91 d Seville 7.6.48.
Best: Kinglake: S. McMahon, M. Howard, B. Collins. Seville: D. Long, A. Lawrence, D. Cerere.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:UNDER 18 SECOND SEMI-FINAL

Olinda Ferny Creek never looked in trouble as they held Seville to just the one goal in the first half, as they kicked seven. Olinda’s Blake Walter has been in superb form all year in front of goal and continued that form adding another nine goals to his tally.
Seville came out after half time and threw everything at Olinda but Olinda had all the answers. It was a reasonably even second half with Olinda kicking seven goals to Seville’s four.
Olinda Ferny Creek 14.11.95 d Seville 5.8.38.
Best: Olinda: O. Raszkiewics, B. Walter, T. Dawson. Seville: K. Tormey, T. Estcourt, B. Schembri.

@BT Sport Sub Mail:UNDER 18 FIRST SEMI-FINAL

A very entertaining game – only three points separated Emerald and Powelltown at half time – with Powelltown holding the slight margin. Emerald looked a little sharper in the third term, and it showed on the scoreboard as they managed to kick four goals to Powelltown’s two to take a 10-point lead into the final quarter.
Emerald finished the day well with another four-goal-to-two quarter to win by a hard-fought 19 points.
Emerald goes one step deeper into finals, and their best footy can worry anyone.
Emerald 14.8.92 d Powelltown 11.7.73.
Best: Emerald: M. Livermore, R. Pepi, T. Sidwell. Powelltown: D. Hadjer, D. Roy, N. Moody.
