Police make in-roads into bad driving

VIGILANCE by the public and a concerted effort by Healesville and regional police are helping to tackle anti-social and dangerous driving in Healesville.
Both local police chief, Sergeant Tony Van Gorp, and Acting Sergeant Graeme Rust, of Yarra Ranges Traffic Management Unit (TMU), said last week the joint efforts of police and the community were making a difference.
“We have been targetting Healesville for a while and from 25 October there have been 52 people charged with speeding and other matters and 21 vehicles issued with defect notices,” Sgt Rust said.
“The feedback we are getting from traders is that the operations are starting to have an effect.”
