IN THE end, Monbulk did win comfortably in the YVMDFL first division but it was not a great spectacle.
Gembrook was most competitive for three quarters and only 17 points down at the last break.
But then Monbulk did what good teams do and ran away in the last, booting five goals and holding Gembrook to just the single behind.

HEALESVILLE rediscovered some of its early-season form to account for Mount Evelyn, which had been in good form of late.
For three quarters these teams looked evenly matched with Healesville just on top going into the last quarter with an 18-point lead.
The last quarter was all Healesville as it scored 5.5 to the Mounters’ three behinds, the right time for Healesville to start finding form, coming into finals.

UPWEY had an amazing 71 scoring shots and if it had been a little more accurate this game would have been even more embarrassing for Silvan.
Upwey’s Wade Porter was best afield with a 10-goal haul, Tyson Heinrich was everywhere and Simon Mitchell was outstanding with six. Upwey is now a true flag favourite.

AT HALF-TIME Wandin held a 10-point lead and would have been eyeing off its second win of the season.
But Warburton wasn’t about to let that happen as it found its running game in the second half, kicking 12 goals to two to win comfortably in the end.

WOORI Yallock continues to impress and this game was no exception, even though it was against the struggling Alexandra.
It was the way it took its opponent apart from the first bounce, kicking 9.9 in the first quarter and holding Alexandra scoreless, and with a second term of 6.2 to two behinds.
The second half started almost the same as the first with Woori kicking 9.6 to 1.2 but the last quarter was a little more even with Woori scoring 4.5 to 2.3. EMERALD finds itself two games clear in fifth spot after beating third-placed Seville. Emerald played its best football of the season so far and Seville had no answers while Emerald had plenty of avenues to goal and finished with 11 separate goal scorers.
Emerald’s second half was exceptional, booting 13 goals to three in a real confidence booster.

AFTER Kinglake’s upset win over league leaders Olinda last week they continued this week with a huge 129-point victory over Powelltown.
Another workman-like performance from the Lakers with a 13-goal first half was followed by 15 goals in the second half. With only three weeks until the finals and playing great football Kinglake is going to be extremely hard to beat. OLINDA bounced back hard from last weekend’s first loss with a big 102-point victory. The team had been wasteful in front of goal this season but turned that around with an accurate 24.12 in difficult conditions.
Olinda should sew up top spot and will be looking at getting its best side on the ground in the next three games before its assault on the flag.

YARRA Glen got its first win for eight weeks over a determined Belgrave. At half-time Belgrave looked the better side, going to the long break with a 15-point lead.
