A Day in the Valley

HORDES of kids (and lots of mums and dads) were nabbed on Wednesday at Yarra Glen – charged with having too much fun!
Families came from Kinglake, Marysville, Yarra Glen, Healesville and all around the Yarra Valley for a day of sport, music, food and fun at “A Day In The Valley” hosted by NAB.
The sun shone as families poured into the Yarra Glen Showgrounds in what NAB ambassador Robert “Dipper” DiPierdomenico declared a fantastic day.
The day kicked off with an AFL Auskick clinic hosted by Dipper and fellow ambassadors Garry Lyon and Andrew Gaze.
Melbourne Victory’s Danny Allsopp and a swag of AFL footballers and took the kids through their paces with the pointy footy and the round footy.
The football ground was buzzing with tug-o’-war battles, cricket, badminton and some impressive hula hooping.
Bob the Builder was a huge hit with the littlies and rapper ‘Reason’ hit the spot with the older kids.
In the clubrooms young music-makers jammed with members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
NAB spokeswoman Katie Graham said it was important to NAB that bushfire-affected communities continued to receive support during the long recovery process.
“A Day in the Valley is all about having some fun and spending quality time with friends and family,” she said.
Ms Graham said the AFL, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, Football Federation Australia, the MSO, Healesville Lions Club, The Australian Ballet, Rochford Winery, Reach Foundation and the Royal Melbourne Show were among the organisations who had played a role in what was undoubtedly a highlight of the school holidays for hundreds of families.
