Shire expo to help with building new foundations

THE Shire of Yarra Ranges is hosting a Rebuild Regenerate Renew Expo to assist residents rebuilding after the February bushfires, and those considering renovations.
The indoor-outdoor expo will bring together 85 exhibitors including a range of experts presenting the latest products and information to do with building on Saturday, 18 July from 10am to 4pm at Lilydale Showgrounds.
Local actor John Wood will host the event which will be opened by the chairwoman of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority, Christine Nixon.
Yarra Ranges Mayor Len Cox said the expo was an important regional event of interest to people living in high fire-risk parts of our shire and in other municipalities as well.
“The expo will bring together architects, builders, tradespeople and a range of other retailers selling everything from water tanks to solar power and gutter protection,” Cr Cox said. “Of course, the event is open to all residents and is a great chance to find out about the latest and greatest products for those considering rebuilding or renovating their homes. While the shire does not recommend and cannot endorse any of the products on display at the expo, we are delighted to be able to bring so many exhibitors together so that residents can get an idea about what is available to them,”
Guest presenters include SBS celebrity gardener Vasilis Kanidiadis and representatives from the Victorian Building Commission and Consumer Affairs.
There will also be family entertainment with farmyard animals, a jumping castle and face painting in the afternoon. Young gardeners can take part in free plant potting and take their plant home.
