Big win for rampaging Hawks

By Stephen Walter
WARBURTON Millgrove kept Alexandra’s horror run going as they hammered their opponents by 137 points.
Warby’s Scott Muir was outstanding – kicking an incredible 14 goals — and Alexandra had no answers for the Burra’s dominance as they ran riot and kicked goals at will.
Warburton Millgrove 27.15.177 d Alexandra 6.4.40.
Best: Warburton: S. Muir (14 goals), J. Iacono, L. Barnard. Alexandra: M. Hill, C. Mullins, D. Crane.
Monbulk also had a huge win thumping Silvan by 106 points.
Monbulk shared the ball brilliantly and ended up with 14 separate goal kickers. Silvan couldn’t match the Hawk’s running power and if not for some inaccuracy this game could have been even more embarrassing for the Cat’s.
A superb performance from a very well-drilled unit.
Monbulk 25.27.177 d Silvan 10.11.71.
Best: Monbulk: D. White, C. Vansuylen, M. Hughson. Silvan: S. Andrews, D. Norman, D. Wells.
Another huge win, this time by Upwey Tecoma over Gembrook Cockatoo by 104 points.
Upwey’s Tom Hedge had a day out as he helped himself to 10 goals. Upwey’s conversion rate was exceptional as they played direct hard-running football and booted a very accurate 23.8 after quarter time.
Gembrook’s Steven Gough battled hard and made the most of his opportunities kicking four goals out of his side’s 10. An exceptional win from Upwey as they continue their dominance.
Upwey Tecoma 27.12.174 d Gembrook Cockatoo 10.10.70.
Best: Upwey: D. Van Hoorn, T. Hedge (10 goals), D. Sloane. Gembrook Cockatoo: C. Clarke, S. Gough (4 goals), N. Laversha.
It might not have been a 100-point-plus win but it was still big – Woori are playing great football of late.
A nine goal to two first half set up the win for The Tigers. Every time Healesville looked slightly threatening it was answered immediately and the Bloods never got into the game.
Woori’s confidence is sky high at the moment and they are giving themselves every chance to be a genuine threat come finals.
Woori Yallock 19.11.125 d Healesville 7.14.56.
Best: Woori Yallock: P. Sharp, M. King, M. Bonuda (5 goals). Healesville: L. Barclay, J. Dunnett, M. Anson.

Emerald had the biggest win thumping Belgrave by 124 points.
Emerald’s Andrew Campbell gave his team a target down forward as he led and marked brilliantly and ended up kicking 10 goals. A brilliant 13 goals to four in the first half set up the victory, then a 16 goal to seven second half put the polish on a fine team performance from Emerald.
Emerald 29.20.194 d Belgrave 11.4.70.
Best: Emerald: A. Campbell (10 goals), M. Steer, D. Alenson. Belgrave: J. Meyer, J. Mason, J. Harris.
Seville continued their winning way with a 41-point victory over Yarra Glen.
This was a tight game right up to three-quarter time with Seville holding a narrow nine-point lead.
An upset was on the cards but Seville showed why they are at the pointy end of the ladder – they ran Yarra Glen off their legs in the final term kicking six goals to one to come away with an impressive hard-fought win.
Seville: 17.13.115 d Yarra Glen 12.2.74.
Best: Seville: S. Wilson, L. Aitkens (4 goals), D. Troyahn (3 goals). Yarra Glen: M. Ashton (4 goals), L. Hoffman, M. Sawyer.
Olinda Ferny Creek had another huge win this time at the expense of Yarra Junction. It was a very even performance from Olinda, with plenty of options down forward with Glen Stevens and David Noorda booting five goals each.
Nine goals from Olinda in the third term to Junction’s two put the game well beyond doubt. Olinda goes to the half-way mark of the season undefeated and looking to have the flag wrapped up already.
Olinda Ferny Creek 25.16.166 d Yarra Junction 9.11.65.
Best: Olinda: G. Stevens (5 goals), S. Tregoning, D. Noorda. Yarra Junction: B. Charman, P. Cross, S. Flutter.
Yea kept its season alive after scoring a 54-point win over Powelltown. Yea only held an 18-point lead at the last change and this game was still up for grabs. The difference in the end was the dominance of Yea’s Peter Kiss down forward, he booted eight goals and Powelltown just couldn’t stop him.
Yea kicked seven goals to one in the last quarter to still give themselves an outside chance of finals.
Yea 16.14.110 d Powelltown 7.14.56.
Best: Yea: P. Kiss (8 goals), E. Daines, M. Mckenna. Powelltown: S. Camilleri, D. Roy, T. Hallmark.
