Players shoot for the topKatelyn Hargrave, Angela Stubbs and Amie Whetham are proud to represent Mon

By Tania Martin
MONBULK’S rising women soccer stars are hoping to bring home that elusive premiership flag this season.
They are gearing up for another great run on the pitch.
Player Aliesha Wetham said the girls want to go one better than last year.
They finished third in the State League Division One competition.
“Last year was our first year in the division and we came equal third,” Wetham said.
“We are looking to equal that or go one better.”
More than 23 girls are getting ready to take to the pitch but others who are interested in joining are welcome to join in.
Wetham said Monbulk Soccer Club would field two women’s teams for the 2009 season.
She said the teams were in good shape with many of the players taking part in a summer competition.
“We have been training twice a week and really working on our match fitness,” Wetham said.
The club is also calling for a reserves coach.
Anyone interested in joining the girls on the pitch or in the coaching position should call senior coach Quentin Wells on 0416 228 269.
