WARBURTON Information Centre is one of the first ports of call for tourists who visit the area; however, it seems to be missed by some community groups and event organisers.
Warburton Highway Tourism is responsible for managing the information centre in Warburton.
Secretary Rhonda Steller said that while they enjoy having the information centre filled with artwork and history for visitors to browse through, they are keen to have more about the current events in the valley.
“It’s very important we confirm and inform other areas of the Yarra Valley what’s going on so we don’t clash and so we can work together in promoting the valley as a whole,” Mrs Steller said.
“The information centre needs information so we can collate and distribute it to the wider valley and community.”
Saying the Warburton Information Centre has the most number of visitors coming through its doors, Mrs Steller said she was keen to provide them correct and up-to-date information in the immediate and wider area.
“It’d be great to know what these tourist activities are in the valley, so we can send them along to the local market or high school car boot sale,” she said.
Once tourists are in town they like to involve themselves in the community, and not just our town but also Yarra Junction, Woori Yallock and Launching Place.”
Warburton Water Wheel Visitor Information Centre is located at 3400 Warburton Highway, Warburton, and it opens 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on weekends. The centre can be contacted on 5966 9600.
