RACE day at Yarra Glen is always fun, but the Yarra Valley Cup meeting, this year on Sunday, 29 March, offers a particularly great day of racing, food, wine and entertainment.
The NMIT Yarra Valley Cup – Food and Wine Meeting takes advantage of the milder Autumn weather to get people in the mood for a relaxed day of fashions, family fun, a flutter on the horses and fine food and wine.
The feature event of the nine-race program will be the $83,000 NMIT Yarra Valley Cup, run over 1950 metres, with the Balgownie Estate Melba Plate another exciting feature race on the day.
A highlight of the day will be the specially created Food and Wine Avenue offering a taste of the Yarra Valley.
Presented by Yarra Valley suppliers, the avenue will showcase sensational Yarra Valley produce, as well as award winning Yarra Valley wines, available for purchase by the glass or bottle.
It is a perfect opportunity to taste the best the Yarra Valley has to offer, or simply picnic on the lawns with a glass of wine while enjoying a great day’s racing.
Visitors can relax and listen to the tunes of the live band or be dazzled by the roving entertainment, or, for the fashion conscious, there is the Fashions on the Field competition.
Kids have not been forgotten with free entry and free kids’ entertainment, including a jumping castle, pony rides and animal farm.
With so much great entertainment, race day at Yarra Glen offers something for everyone.
