New stage in hall’s life

HEALESVILLE’S Memorial Hall has played a serious role over the past month as the Bushfire Relief Centre.
It’s played the role superbly, but Shire of Yarra Ranges Regional Arts Co-ordinator Jenny Davies, says it’s time now for the Memo to make a contribution in an equally important, but less intense, role.
“We want to resume normal programming with the movies and some live theatre and, after what has been a stressful time for many people, we want the community to be able to really come together and share some lighter moments.”
The shire is making it easy to do. During March all the Tuesday evening films will be free.
Ms Davies said the line-up is light-hearted, offering a much-needed dose of escapism.
March 10 is Vicki Christina Barcelona with successive Tuesday nights screening Lemon Tree, Young at Heart – a heart-warming and funny documentary-style film about a group of seniors who form a choir – and finishing with I’ve Loved You So Long.
In between, on 14 March, is the live stage comedy “The Tank”.
“It’s comedy with a bit of a message,” Ms Davies said. “It’s lightweight fun and we are really hoping people will come along and enjoy it – we’re confident they will love it if they do.”
