Art work from the students at Wandin Yallock Primary school will be displayed at Mont De Lancey until 1 November.
Students will have their work displayed at the exhibition area at Mont De Lancey as part of an annual program between the school and the historic homestead which gives students the opportunity to display their work to the general public.
Art teacher Courtney Sharp said the exhibition was a “special event” for the students as they get to exhibit their work in a professional enviornment.
“Because it’s not at school and in a professional exhibition space it makes it more special for the students,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for it to be in a professional space and it takes their work to another level.
“They’re proud of their work in a classroom and then they get here and see it up and they’re even more proud of it and it’s really exciting for them.”
The display includes a range of diverse art work including clay work, photography work and even self-portraiture.
The students from Prep to Grade 6 have worked all year towards the event, and it includes all the work the students have done throughout the year.
Principal Trevor Vass said it gave students a real thrill to see their work on the wall at a public exhibition.
“Student artwork often ends up at the bottom of a kid’s bag smudged and crunched up, so to have it on display is great and we are really lucky to have that relationship with Mont De Lancey,” Mr Vass said.
“The kids get a real thrill coming up and seeing it on the wall and being able to show it to there families, especially the younger kids … they don’t often get a chance to show off what they can do so it’s a great opportunity for that to happen.”
The exhibition will be open to the Public at Mont De Lancey until 1 November.
