THE notion that you have to ‘rough it’ when you head out on a fishing or sightseeing trip around the Peninsula has well and truly been ditched, thanks to Rip Charters.
Catering for corporate and recreational anglers and sightseers, the company provides top quality boats, equipment and service, all backed by years of local knowledge and experience.
Rip Charters was established in 1986 and is this year celebrating 20 years of service to the Peninsula.
The 42-foot Randell, ‘Big Blue’ was built in Western Australia for the cray fishing industry and has been working for Rip Charters for the past 12 years.
Powered by a brand new Volvo 480Hp diesel motor, it has modern navigational, communication and fish-finding aids on board to ensure maximum comfort and safety and optimum catch.
The 43-foot Kestrel, built in 1963 in Rosebud by Alec Lacco, is also back in service with Rip Charters. Built originally from Huon Pine, it has been lovingly restored by local ferryman, Warren Neale.
Features of the Kestrel include the availability of tea, coffee and an on-board toilet. Both boats offer shelter from the weather and, of course a highly experienced skipper and crew.
Rip Charters run four, five and eight hour trips, including shark fishing trips, departing from Sorrento or Queenscliff to fish The Rip, Bass Strait or Port Phillip Bay. All the equipment you will need for an enjoyable and successful fishing trip is supplied
Sightseeing trips to view dolphins, seals, kilometres of magnificent and interesting coastline, even cruise liners, are also very popular.
A fishing or sightseeing trip makes a great gift – especially if you know someone who has been angling for something a bit different – so why not call Rip Charters now to book a trip for yourself or for a friend. Phone 5985 6968 or 0438 847 791.
