SEARING heat impacted on the course and the golfers at Emerald Golf Course last Saturday with many pleased to be able to play.
The course rating was set at 67 at play’s end with John Carville (22) produced the goods on Saturday with a net 65.
This left him at the top of the heap in C Grade, with bragging rights over the whole field and his first V.G.L. monthly medal.
Ross Martin (12) also found the going to his liking with a win in A Grade by carding a net 66. Graeme Fergus (18) headed up the B Grade crew with a score of net 66 as well.
The course treated others well enough with Peter Jones and Peter Stevens both scoring 69 while Dennis Fuller, Geoff Isherwood, Damien Holland, and Dean Shannon all managing 71.
Stevens was nearest the pin on the 4th, Isherwood on the 7th, Greg Horrocks on the 12th, Mike Litchfield the 13th and Kameron Geeves picked up the pro pin on the 18th.
The CafeMarte cappuccinos were picked up by Jones on the 10th and Geeves on the 17th.
Wednesday’s Overly Fired-up Golf (OFG) was won by Mark Lothian (18) with a whopping 46 stableford points from Dennis Fuller (9) on 41 points.
Next Saturday is the first day of the three-day Maurie Murphy Summer Cup. This involves three rounds of par golf.
