Festival is music to their ears

By Kath Gannaway

The Yarra Valley Music Festival is gathering momentum with more than 300 people enjoying the music, food and kids activities provided by the Yarra Junction Football Netball Club on Friday, 31 March.
Held under lights, the second festival featured rock bands Oz and Ruckus and indi-pop band One More Weekend.
Organiser Georgia Straham said the festival was a great success with families enjoying the opportunity to get together, browse the market stalls, enjoy the great food provided by the food vendors and take part in the various activities by kids.
“We had lots of families which was one of our aims, to bring people down to the club,” she said.
“We are hoping to rejuvenate our junior football and netball sides next year, so getting more families through and making contact with our local schools is an important part of what we are doing right now.”
The club handed over $350 to the local CFA as part of the proceeds from the night.
