HEALESVILLE Tennis Club has had its share of wash-outs, but last Saturday’s cancellation of all games due to heat was a first.
Club spokesperson Alan Honeycombe said the ‘heat-out’ was an unprecedented step by the committee of Eastern Region Tennis who cancelled all Saturday games due to the heat wave and the total fire ban.
Tennis will however go ahead at Healesville during this week with the introduction of newly appointed coach Wayne Broom. Mr Broom will be at the Queens Park courts on Tuesday, 3 February, Thursday 5, and Friday 6, after school, to meet previous and prospective coaching students.
A free Meet the Coach Fun Day will be held on Sunday 8 February from 9am to 11am.
Mr Broom can be contacted on 0437 008 788.
