Function to say ‘goodbye’ to Di

Outgoing Shire of Yarra Ranges councillor Di Moore will be honoured at a community celebration early next month.Outgoing Shire of Yarra Ranges councillor Di Moore will be honoured at a community celebration early next month.

SHIRE of Yarra Ranges residents are invited to attend a community celebration for retiring Ryrie Ward councillor Di Moore.
Healesville township group Community 3777, with support from the Healesville Living and Learning Centre, has organised a celebration in Cr Moore’s honour at Swinburne TAFE in Healesville early next month.
Community 3777 chairwoman Karen Kisala said the group decided to organise the event after Cr Moore announced she would not stand for re-election while on holiday in Mongolia recently.
“When Di announced her decision not to stand for the upcoming elections there was no way that the community that she has served for 15 years was going to let the occasion pass by without recognition,” Ms Kisala said.
“It’s really important to acknowledge Di’s many years of dedicated community service on both the Shire of Healesville and the Shire of Yarra Ranges.”
Ms Kisala said Cr Moore had represented her community with passion and integrity, served on many committees and had always acted with the best interest of the local community.
“I am sure there are many people and organisations across the townships of Healesville, Yarra Glen, Steels Creek, Coldstream, Gruyere and Yering that would like to celebrate and acknowledge Di’s many years of community service,” she said.
Cr Moore said she was reluctant to have a community celebration in her honour until she discovered the event would be a fund raiser for Yarra Valley Community Youth Link.
“This program is being established jointly by a number of local community organisations to support and fund new youth initiatives and projects in the Yarra Valley,” Cr Moore said.
The community celebration will be held at Swinburne TAFE in Healesville on Friday, 2 December from 6pm to 8pm.
Community members are invited to bring a plate and enjoy performances by local musicians.
