FORTY business people in the shire of Yarra Ranges have earned the right to use the shire’s sustainable business logo.
Among them are US Bus Lines and the Mail newspapers.
The full fleet at US Bus Lines is now displaying the logo, which signifies general manager Ron Hurley’s graduation as a 2008 participant in the network.
Mail newspapers have chosen to display the logo on the masthead.
The Yarra Ranges Sustainable Business Program started as a pilot in 2007 with 10 participants. Thirty people graduated in 2008, and this year the shire hopes to see 40 businesses graduate.
Participants learn strategies for sustainable business practices, through attendance at seminars.
The logo is a key element in the program, the shire’s executive officer economic development Simon O’Callaghan said.
“It blends corporate social responsibility, the environment, and dollars.”
Information about the 2009 program is available at the Shire of Yarra Ranges website.
