World farm expert at Glenburn

By Kath Gannaway

YARRA Valley farmers will have an opportunity to meet world-renowned American farmer Joel Salatin at Glenburn on Friday, 24 February.
Mr Salatin, an ambassador for regenerative farming, will visit Glenburn to speak and lead a farm walk at Tom Abbottsmith-Youl’s property ‘Tom’s Paddock’.
A strong advocate for robust direct-to-consumer farm sales, he has been featured in the best-selling Omnivore’s Dilemma and a host of documentaries including Food Inc, Fresh, Farmaggedon and most recently, American Meat.
Mr Salatin is also the author of eight best-selling books, including the internationally-acclaimed Folks, This Ain’t Normal.
After attending one of Mr Salatin’s events, Mr Abbottsmith-Youl has adopted regenerative and holistic farming practices on his property to help the community re-engage with where their food is grown.
Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority’s CEO, David Buntine, said the visit was a fantastic opportunity for local property owners to hear from a world-leader in regenerative and sustainable farming.
“Joel has inspired thousands of people across the globe to adopt more sustainable farming practices and we are excited to host him here in the Port Phillip and Western Port region,” he said.
The event will take place at Glenburn Hall, but numers are limited and registration closes on Wednesday, 22 February. Book at https://register.eventarc.com/37160/joel-salatin-at-toms-paddock.
