Road to fun

THE stars of the Comedy Festival are coming to Warburton with a new show, the Comedy Road Trip.
Local comedian Michael Connell is one of the performers on the trip. And, he he told the Mail, “I’m excited about it”.
Michael said normally people would have to travel all the way in to Melbourne to see the shows at the Comedy Festival.
“Now people will get the chance to see some of the best comedians of the festival perform right here in Warburton,” he said.
The show will showcase parts of the comedians’ new solo shows before they’re performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
The line-up includes Fox Klein who has been performing in America including on “Last Comic Standing” and regular appearances on The Comedy Channel.
Rob Hunter has toured England and had sold out shows in previous comedy festivals. Xavier Michelides won the prestigious RAW comedy competition in 2001. Pete Sharkey and Karl Chandler have appeared on The Comedy Channel’s “Stand Up Australia” program, and are both hugely popular on the Melbourne Comedy Circuit. Plus Phil Andrews is a regular on Triple J, and performs all around the country.
“We’re calling it The Comedy Road Trip because all these guys will have to travel a long way to Warby,” explains Michael. “The only one who’ll have it easy is me, cos I live in Gladysdale.”
The Comedy Road Trip will be held on Saturday, 24 January at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in Warburton. Tickets are just $12 and bookings are essential. Phone 5966 5040.
