THE Yarra Valley Summer School of Music and Art brought in an eager collection of musicians, artists and performers of all ages to the five days of activities last week.
In its 13 years the annual summer school has provided a visual arts program, performing arts program and a youth and children’s program.
Classes are held at both Healesville Primary and the adjacent St Bridget’s Primary School and use most of the facilities and school grounds.
Budding filmmakers Campbell Pickett, Aidan Hayes and Darcy Cripps Film spent most of last Thursday on the play equipment at St Bridget’s Primary School as part of the short film they made for their Film Production class.
Tara Carson enjoyed making new friends and twirling coloured paper to make a picture of a dinosaur.
Jack Baldwin enjoyed the watercolour class just as much as Kathy Needham was impressed at the skills she learnt during her Monoprinting class taught by artist Margaret McLoughlin.
Phylliss Hoffman taught her class how to felt an original scarf with the whole class completing their unique and colourful creations all in an afternoon.
The wind ensemble, choir and a’cappella singing group practised diligently all week in preparation for the concert and dinner which was held last Thursday night for students to demonstrate what they learnt during the week.
