HEAVY rain, while welcomed by many, played havoc with some farmers and cricketers alike, washing out the weekend’s cricket and damaging many crops.
All cricket in the Yarra Valley was washed out on Saturday and the inter-regional and inter-association games on Sunday met with the same fate, as did the Victorian Country Cricket League’s annual challenge match against the VSDCA (sub-district).
Meanwhile, the Yarra Valley and Ferntree Gully veterans look forward to their invitational match this Friday at Bayswater No. 2 against the Royal Selangor Club of Malaysia. Ex -Test players will be among those lining up.
Bayswater CC is pleased to assist the Melba Cricket Group in hosting the match, which is part of Royal Selangor’s tour of Victoria. A team from the two associations has visited the Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur in recent years on cricket trips to Malaysia, with another planned for April 2009.
