HEALESVILLE High School students will be using their passion to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation next month, organising a dodgeball tournament with primary school students.
Zach Kennedy and Kobe Thorsen will be organising a tournament at Healesville Primary School, pitting students against each other for a friendly match and a good cause.
The two Year 9 students said they had gathered interest from more than 60 students from Grades 5 and 6, and would be speaking to other students to get others involved.
Both Kobe and Zach said they knew people who had been sick in the past, and had their wishes granted by the organisation, and wanted to raise $1000 through the event.
“We had a friend who had leukaemia and he was in hospital for most of primary school, and his one wish was to go to America and visit Legoland and Disneyland and stuff, and Make a Wish made that come true,” Kobe said.
The pair had approached businesses in Healesville and received donations of prizes for the students, such as 10 movie tickets for The Memo and lollies from the Healesville Candy Emporium.
The students taking part in the tournament pay a gold coin for their entry, and will be able to make further donations on the day.
