Detective visits
IN CONNECTION with two of the court cases dealt with during the week, Senior Detective Bell was in Healesville for a few days. It will be remembered that Detective Bell was associated with Constable Bartholomew and Knowles in the apprehension of Stanley Russell and Leslie Woodgate, who were changed with the recent Healesville robberies (See Healesville Guardian, October 17, 1925).
Russell was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for the offence. The smart work of the local police, which has been commented upon favourable by the department heads, is a source of gratification to Healesville people.

No Trace of Lost Boy
SEARCH parties have failed to find any clues that will help to solve the mystery of the disappearance of John Gregory Davenport. Over 100 men took part in an organised search last Sunday concentrating on the river and dense bush north of the town. A thorough search of the river was made from Signs Bridge downstream to Wesburn.
Lowes Rd. Tip will Soon be Closed
DUMPING rubbish at the tip alongside Lowes Road, Yarra Junction will soon be prohibited. The Shire of Upper Yarra will take immediate steps to find another site for a garbage tip. Residents who live in the vicinity of the existing tip will be heartened by its closure as they claim it is a harbour for rats as well as being a health menace. (The tip was located on the west side of Lowes Road, between the road and a fenced property. It was a deep, open channel).
