HEALESVILLE Greyhound Club, which has made substantial improvements to its facilities, again had a good crowd for its meeting on Saturday.
The 12-race program offered plenty of action on the track, and with the TAB working on Melbourne, Yarra Glen and other races, there was no shortage of activity in the betting ring, either.
Almost $1.5 million has been spent on improvements at Healesville over the past 18 months, and the club continues its pitch to families with a picturesque setting, barbecue and picnic facilities and plenty of running room for the kids. They can even have a kick of the football or a game of cricket.
The club has made its meetings family-friendly, with entry $5.50 for adults, $3 for pensioners and free admittance for children, and is enjoying a growing interest for hens’ and bucks’ days. It is keen to promote its December meetings as the ideal venue for Christmas break-ups and family get-togethers.
Race meetings are held each Saturday, with more meetings in the lead-up to Christmas before racing returns on 3 January. Course manager Gerry Snider can provide more information on 0418 266 348.
