LILYDALE hairdressers will celebrate 10 years in town with a masquerade fund-raiser, donating money to families in need at the end of the month.
Bizarre Hair by Cristy in Lilydale will be running a Masquerade Ball, on Saturday 28 May, at Dixons Creek’s Immerse Winery.
Salon owner Cristy Crellin told the Mail that the ball had two purposes – to celebrate the salon’s 10th year in the area, and to raise money for families in need at Mooroolbark East Primary School.
She said the $50 per head entry cost covered food through the evening, a drink on arrival, and entertainment, which includes a red carpet arrival, DJ, and hair runway show, styled by the Bizarre Hair hairdressers.
Three major raffles – a beauty raffle, entertainment raffle and family raffle – will also be held over the evening, with all money raised going to fuel and grocery vouchers for families in need.
Ms Crellin said the idea for the ball came about after surgery earlier in the year, that saw her house-bound for 12 weeks.
“I watched Pretty Little Liars – they had a ball, I thought that’s a great idea,” she said.
“We wanted to have a party and fund-raise.”
The owners of Immerse Winery, long-time clients of Ms Crellin, then offered the venue for the event, and the hairdressers are now selling tickets to the event.
She said that she hoped to get 100 people along, and said that those travelling by public transport could make use of a $15 shuttle bus, to take punters from Lilydale Station to the venue and back.
A make-up artist will also be at the event, offering her services for a fee – which will also be donated to the families.
Ms Crellin said that Immerse was also offering 15 of its rooms at 20 per cent off – at $200 for the night, plus breakfast.
