Morison wins at Emerald

By Dennis Fuller
LEIGH Morison’s round was too good for the rest of the field at Emerald Golf Club last Saturday. Playing off a 15 handicap, Morison finished with a fine score of 42 points to win the lot.
And, Mike Litchfield (7) continued his fabulous run of form to win A Grade with 40 points, with the handicapper likely to have the pruning shears at the ready for both golfers.
Glen Panting (23) was in the clubhouse with 39 points to rule the roost over the other C Graders., breaking his handicap for the win.
Dennis Fuller (11) was in with 37 points, as were Ross Martin (11), Martin Yeats (6), Con Whitlock (25), Kameron Geeves (15) and Jeffrey Marsh (27). Dean Shannon finished nearest the pin on the 4th, Morison on the 7th and 12th, Peter Clowes on the 13th and Dave Hunt picked up the pro-pin money on the 18th.
Fuller won the Café Marte prize for being nearest after two shots on the 10th and Litchfield did the same on the 17th. Tuesday’s Cup Day event was a 12-hole par-three event using the Calloway method of handicapping. Fuller won with 37.5 strokes from John Carvil on 39.5. Wednesday’s Ostentatiously Fickle Golf was won by Kevin Miller with 36 points, from Ken Hill and Mark Lothian on 35.
Next Saturday, players will compete for the foursomes championship so members are choosing partners for either their golfing talent or their big handicap. A guest day will be held on 22 November. Those keen to try the course with no strings attached can contact a member, or Dave Yates at the clubhouse. All golfers are welcome.
