Mt Evelyn fights back

FOR the first time in many seasons, the YVCA had a fixture with one day matches over the Melbourne Cup weekend.
In the D J Strachan Shield, Silvan reached 8/167 with Luke Painter 36 and Clint Sharman 35 among the runs while for home side Mt Evelyn, Aaron Booth took 3/24.
Mt Evelyn were in some trouble in the initial run chase but fought back well to finally score 225 for the loss of eight wickets. Luke Jones made 61, Ben Thiele 35, while Crowhurst took four wickets and Mark Appleby two for Silvan.
Next round returns to two day matches for the Strachan Shield. Hoddles Creek hosts Mt Evelyn and if the home side can hold the couple of Mt Evelyn big guns then this will be a close affair.
At Silvan the home side will have to play above itself to have a chance against Woori Yallock.
In the R A Finger Trophy, Yarra Junction 8/164cc defeated Mt Evelyn 107.
Yarra Junction’s Edward Buckley 44, Chris Fall 42, Steve Farr 29 n.o., J Bourke 3/3, Ian Hawkey 2/32. Mt Evelyn’s M Darvell 22, Ian Hawkey 20, J Fall 3/35, Chris Fall 3/28, Stuart Thompson 3/14.
In Round five games, Yarra Glen will need to play well to hold off Mt Evelyn.
