THE Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) is extending its free legal service to Healesville.
The Boronia based service has provided a free legal service to the outer east, including outreach services Lilydale and Yarra Junction, for the past three years.
Working with Yarra Valley Community Health, ECLC will visit Healesville every second Wednesday of the month starting this month. ECLC manager Michael Smith said that the partnership with Yarra Valley Community Health would provide very strong links with the Healesville community and would enable the service to be accessible to all in Healesville and the surrounding areas.
“For many living in the Healesville area, the Boronia office is still not accessible and it is hoped that the new outreach service in Healesville will help bridge this gap,” Boronia office coordinator Denise Budge said. The centre is funded by Victoria Legal Aid to provide information and advice on residents’ legal rights in relation to family law matters, intervention orders, summary criminal matters, fines, motor vehicle accidents, civil and neighbourhood disputes.
It also provides a community education program where speakers can be booked to talk to groups.
For further information phone the centre on 9762 6235 or phone 1300 79 70 88 for a confidential appointment.
