Good turnout for social tennis

SOCIAL tennis nights started last week at Warburton Tennis Club with a good turn out on Friday 10 October with 12 juniors showing up for a social hit.
Social tennis nights are locked in up to Christmas and any changes will be advised on the club’s website which will be updated with developments as the club moves ahead.
Junior social tennis is held on Fridays from 4pm to 6pm with young players having a fun hit and the opportunity to learn the game.
Senior social tennis on Tuesdays start at 7pm in a round robin format with doubles played first to six.

Warburton Tennis Cup

The Warburton Community Bank Tennis Cup will be held on the Australia Day weekend, 24 to 26 January 2009.
Tennis players from the Upper Yarra Valley are encouraged to register for the event now. Registration is available on line or by phoning 0409 004 770.
There will be prizes of tennis racquets and trophies in a family-orientated atmosphere.
A Grade entries should be for the more serious contenders while B Grade is aimed at the competitive but social player.
The winner of each contest will be decided by the “first to six games rule” where players can win and progress by winning 6-5.
