Steam and Wood

THE 11th Annual Steam and Wood Show is on at Alexandra on Saturday 11 October. There will be lots of woodcraft of interest to all ages, an operating steam train and small engines, at the Tramways Museum and more. Phone 5772 2013.

Toolangi Festival

The Toolangi Festival on 18 and 19 October will celebrate the area’s unique attractions and activities with packed program of fun including open gardens, an art show and poetry competition and readings, movies, exhibitions, food and drink, bush walks, the Rhododendron Ball and more. Seniors entertainment

Film night

‘THE Lives of Others’ a German Drama is the next film on offer from the Upper Yarra Film Society. The film set in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall won the Oscar for best Foreign Film in 2006. It will screen at Warburton on Tuesday 14 October at 7.30pm. Phone 5966 2643.

Orchid Festival

THE Yarra Valley Orchid Society’s 24th annual Orchid Festival will be held at Seville Hall in Seville on the weekend of 18 and 19 October. See magnificent displays of orchids, re-potting demonstrations, raffles afternoon teas and light lunches and plants for sale. Phone 5964 3396.

Wildlife exhibition
