YARRA Glen Primary School will host an evening of entertainment with its annual Twilight Market.
Heartland Church Senior Pastor Mike Baimbridge said the market, which has been organised by students and staff, is an initiative by the school to teach students about commerce, business and handling money.
The students will run their own stalls at the market, selling goods and food to visitors, while community groups will run their own information stalls or activities.
Mr Baimbridge said Yarra Valley FM, HICCI (Healesville Interchurch Community Care), Yarra Glen police, Yarra Glen CFA, (Glen.) Youth Group and the Men’s Shed would all be at the market.
“The whole idea, I guess, is to bring those partners together as well as have a couple of hours of community celebration,” he said.
Food and beverages will be on sale on the evening and activities such as sack races may be on the cards – although Mr Baimbridge said the final details were still being organised.
Last year’s event saw the school grounds packed with school families, community members and children and Mr Baimbridge said about 500 people may come through the gates this year.
The Twilight Market will be held at Yarra Glen Primary School, 35 Symonds Street, Yarra Glen, from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday 29 October.
