Federal grant for Graceburn club

MEMBERS of Healesville RSL’s new Graceburn Day Club have received a welcome boost by way of a $7498 federal grant.
Member for McEwen Fran Bailey said the Veteran and Community Grants funding would be used to purchase new equipment for a range of activities held at the club.
“Graceburn Day Club brings together members of our veterans’ community, their families and friends for a host of weekly activities,” Ms Bailey said.
Graceburn spokesperson Madeleine Ellery said a karaoke machine, an organ for sing-alongs, a projector and board games were on the group’s wish list.
“This is absolutely wonderful,” she said. “It’s a great help to us because the program is run by a small group of volunteers, so the grant really does save us a lot of work.”
Ms Ellery said the grant would enable the group to become self supportive.
Ms Bailey said the club promoted healthy lifestyles and helped veterans live independently at home or in supported care.
