Fun and rides at show

By Melissa Meehan
THE annual family fun show is coming to Doveton town.
The fourth Doveton Show on Sunday 21 September is set to be the biggest event yet.
The Doveton Show has been providing a family-friendly, low cost alternative to the Royal Melbourne Show for past three years.
Myuna Farm will host the annual show that will have many new features along with the old classics such as animal rides and show bags.
The fun-filled day of rides and activities will offer something for the whole family and showcase what the Doveton – Eumemmerring community has to offer. Show goers can enjoy a train ride to the Myuna Farm’s native wetlands area where they can feed the ducks and geese, or go on a pony ride.
The day will also feature cultural performances, activities and stalls run by local groups and organisations, sheep shearing demonstrations and an arts and craft competition.
A Doveton Show Day specialty is the rides wrist band, which costs $10 and gives the buyer unlimited rides on the Egyptian Castle, Circotrone, Bungee Run, Bucking Bull, GI Jane rock climb and the chair-o-plane.
The Cha Cha, a show favourite, will also be operating for the low price of $2 a ride!
This year, the Doveton Show will see the first appearance of historical figure, Captain Doveton.
The suburb was named after Captain Doveton who owned a property in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Entry is by optional gold coin donation.
Doveton Show Day will start at 11am through to 5pm on Sunday
Myuna Farm, 182 Kidds Road, Doveton.
