PETER and Leonie Allen were devastated last month to discover their Tarago van had been stolen from Park Road in Warburton.
The loss of the 20-year-old van was a shock, but it was what was in it that has broken their hearts.
The couple who are staying with friends in Park Road were taking a cabinet made by their son Gerrard to one of his five brothers in New South Wales.
“Gerrard was killed in a motorbike accident at Noojee on New Year’s Eve,” a distraught Mrs Allen told the Mail just hours after discovering the theft.
“He was a brilliant cabinet maker and we wanted to make sure each of his brothers has something he made.”
“It is not worth a lot in money terms, but is of enormous sentimental value to us; it’s irreplaceable,” she said.
This week Mrs Allen contacted the Mail after finding photos of the missing cabinet, hoping that if someone has seen the cabinet they would contact her or the police.
The Queen Anne style cabinet has “G. M. Allen” written on the back.
Anyone with information can contact the Allens on 0409 018 883, Warburton police on 5966 2006 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
