Crash closes highway

By Jesse Graham

Update: 4pm.

TWO drivers have been taken to hospital in stable conditions after a head-on crash this morning in Woori Yallock.

At 8.38am, emergency services were called out to the corner of Lusatia Park Road and Warburton Highway in Woori Yallock, where two cars had collided head-on.

A CFA spokesperson said that one person was trapped in each car at the time of the crash, and oil had spilled onto the roads.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said that a man in his 60s had been rescued from one cars and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with chest, shoulder and leg injuries.

A woman in her 40s was also rescued and taken to the Alfred hospital with a broken leg. Both were said to be in a stable condition.

It is unclear whether the two people were the sole occupants of the cars.

A police officer said the crash may have been caused by oil on the roads.

More as it comes.
