TARRAWARRA Museum of Art (TWMA) will host a public forum next weekend, exploring climate change and its impact on the Yarra Valley as part of its Phase Change project.
Experts in sustainable design, economics and Indigenous knowledge will be at the Phase Change Public Forum on Sunday 31 May, which will run from noon to 5pm.
The Phase Change project, led by academics, practitioners and 20 RMIT students, has been run at the museum from 28 March, exploring the impact of climate change on the valley and potential responses.
Landscape architect, artist and Senior Lecturer at RMIT University’s School of Architecture and Design, Charles Anderson, will introduce the public forum, which will include a range of experts and local faces.
Wurundjeri member and valley resident Brooke Collins will be joining architects, sustainable designers, architects and environmental experts to debate the issues raised by the project, which will finish on 8 June.
Since its opening, the project in the museum has aimed to be a place for discussion, debate and interaction between the public and the university students to engage with the issues around climate change.
Using recycled materials from TarraWarra Estate, waste stations and op shops, the students aim to create a ‘performed installation’, studying the energy flows and material cycles of the valley and the possibilities of sustainable design, production and practice.
