Bikers urged to cut noise

THE Department of Sustainability says trail bike riders are finally getting the message on safe and legal riding.
The DSE issued five infringement notices to riders during a joint Victoria Police/DSE operation.
The operation targeted riders in state forests including Toolangi, Marysville, and Kinglake on 15 June.
DSE Regional Compliance Officer, Greg Chant, said it was encouraging to see that out of the 120 riders the team spoke to, only five were found flouting the rules.
“It is encouraging to see that riders are getting the message that if they are licensed, registered, and stay on the legal road network, they are welcome on public land,” he said.
A total of nine infringement notices, with fines of up to $900, were issued to the five illegal trail bike riders in relation to unlicensed riding or unregistered bikes.
