A 14-YEAR-OLD Healesville boy has been arrested following a graffiti attack on Healesville RSL. Police were called to the RSL to view CCTV footage of the person spray painting the back door of the venue. Police were notified by RSL staff who were monitoring the CCTV at the time.
Senior Constable Chris Grasby of Healesville police said the incident happened around 7pm on Friday 27 June. “We identified the boy during a patrol of the main street and he was interviewed before being taken back to his parents’ place,” he said.
Sen Const Grasby said police are also looking into an increase in vandalism in Queen’s Park.
In the latest incarnation of destruction Sen Const Grasby said wheelie bins were being set alight.
He said one of the bins had been set alight on top of a community barbecue causing considerable damage.
“We are patrolling the park as much as we can but we are also asking the community to keep an eye open as they walk through the park, or drive past, and phone triple zero if they see this sort of vandalism,” he said.
“Very often we can be on the scene quickly if we are alerted to something happening through triple zero.”
Anyone with information about the vandalism can also call Healesville police on 5962 4422 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. He also asked people to phone the Healesville Police Station before coming down to see police to avoid frustration.
“If they leave a return phone number we can get back to them to arrange a time,” he said.
