YOUNG people across the Yarra Ranges will soon be able to access musical equipment worth $10,000.
Youth Affairs Minister James Merlino said that the Shire of Yarra Ranges was among 26 local government areas to receive funds under the new $1.3 million Music Equipment Grants program.
“This is a great boost for these young people in the Yarra Ranges with musical ambitions that cannot get access to instruments and equipment to fulfil those aspirations,” Mr Merlino said.
“The goal is to provide music equipment for youth in the region shared with others in their community, which they would often be able to afford their own.”
He said that the Shire of Yarra Ranges would purchase music equipment to provide young residents with skills in event management and allow them to host more live performances in their community.
Mr Merlino said equipment to be purchased would include mobile staging, PA systems, guitars, drum kits, microphone stands, leads and speakers.
Grant sounds great
