THE work of Gladysdale CFA volunteers is a little easier thanks to Hoo-Hoo.
Hoo-Hoo Melbourne Club 217 director Martin Pretty and president David Spence have handed over a cheque for more than $1000 to enable the brigade to fit a special hose reel to their tanker.
Less well-known than Rotary, Apex or Lions, Hoo-Hoo is one of the oldest international service organisations.
Members come from all sectors of the forestry and forest products industry.
Mr Spence said members conducted fund-raising all year and distributed to needy groups and causes.
“CFA wanted this live hose reel,” Mr Pretty said.
Brigade captain Peter Jennings said the new reel could save valuable time in an emergency.
“The reel is connected to the tanker so we don’t have to hook the hose to the pump.
“You just start the pumper and while someone is doing that another person is running out the hose.”
“A donation like this is good not only for the brigade and its members and the function we perform; it allows us to put our funds towards another big project we are hoping to complete soon – the placement of our shed at Powelltown,” Mr Jennings said.
