PRIMARY school students from Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Don Valley and Healesville danced to the tunes of Code One, the rock band of Victoria Police on Thursday last week.
Code One, consisting of six uniformed members performed a number of songs including Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry and a Maroon 5 number.
Vocalists Senior Constable Brian Carbery and Constable Lorena Novoa were accompanied by Senior Constables Richard Bennett on drums, Jason Bond as a sound technician, Simon Deppeler on bass guitar and Rick Varlet on guitar. Students were awarded a box of chocolates for the best dancer on the day, and an encouragement award was presented to a young girl named Madeline.
Code One’s main assignment is to break down any barriers between the general public and Victoria Police.
Healesville Sergeant Tony Van Gorp said that the day was a huge success with students begging for the band to play another song after the concert was over.
“The kids really got into it this year, which is great,” Sgt Van Gorp said.
