Book in for indigenous skills

TWO Healesville businesses, Worawa Aboriginal College and Culgoa Dreaming Consultancy, are included in a new directory of Victoria’s indigenous enterprises.
Seymour MP Ben Hardman welcomed the promotion of indigenous enterprises in the 2008/09 Victorian Indigenous Business Directory which lists Culgoa, an indigenous health consultancy, and Worawa, which provides culturally based education for Aboriginal students.
The businesses are among the more than 130 businesses from across the state listed in the directory which Mr Hardman described as an excellent resource aimed at promoting the variety and expertise of indigenous enterprises, products and services available in the local community to a wide audience.
“The directory celebrates and publicises the vitality and depth of our indigenous businesses,” he said.
Launching the directory during Reconciliation Week, Victorian Small Business Minister Joe Helper said economic development was a key part of advancing indigenous communities.
The 2008/09 directory has doubled in size from the first directory.
Mr Helper said it would help stimulate business opportunities, networking and promotional activities among indigenous communities through the Koori Business Network.
