THE CLASSICAL Coomalie concert series will continue in Healesville this weekend, with the third concert bringing together a violinist and a pianist for a special, one-off show.
Violinist Trisha Rose will join pianist Melanie Lee for a house concert on Sunday 15 June, beginning at 2.30pm and running through the rest of the afternoon.
The duo will be performing a wide range of classics, including Winter by Vivaldi, The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, Meditation from Thais and pieces from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
Fitting in with the colder weather, Winter is said to portray the chills of an Italian blizzard contrasted with the warmth of a cosy fireplace.
The upcoming concert is the latest instalment in the Concerts at Coomalie series, which will be running until October, featuring a different group or performer playing their speciality instruments.
The owners of Coomalie, Brian and Ursula Blake, said they organised the series to help give young professional musicians exposure to a wider audience.
According to Mr and Mrs Blake, the benefit is also to the community, which gets to experience classical music in an intimate house-concert setting.
Mr Blake said the community had responded well to the concerts, with the first show in March almost filling its capacity with 55 music-loving residents.
The capacity of the venue is 60. Entry to the 15 June concert is $25, or $20 for pensioners and full-time students.
