CHUM Creek Primary School joined more than 200 of Victoria’s most creative and dynamic schools that were awarded for excellence in teacher training and development.
Minister for Education Bronwyn Pike congratulated 269 Victorian Government schools and seven Catholic schools for achieving Performance and Development Culture accreditation for outstanding support offered to new and current teachers.
“Teachers play a vital tole in motivating and inspiring students to learn and shaping their learning experiences,” Ms Pike said.
Principal Ken Sturt said that he was proud to receive the award.
“While we have a small school, and teaching body we are able to achieve great results by working together,” Mr Sturt said.
“By following a number of assessments teachers are able to improve their skills.”
Chum Creek Primary School’s graduate teacher Sam Holman is currently in her third year at the school. Performance and Development Culture accreditation recognises schools that have high-quality mentoring and induction programs for new teachers, excellent processes for developing and managing staff and a school culture that is supportive of professional growth.
In order to be accredited, schools first assessed their own processes and provided detailed evidence of steps taken to develop a performance and development culture.
