BUSINESS has been thriving in Healesville ever since it was first established.
Though land sales for the town that would become Healesville began in 1865, the first sawmill was opened that year, as was the first pub.
By 1866 there were more than 30 businesses thriving in Nicholson Street. There was a blacksmith, a saddlery, a post office and six hotels.
The year 1889 saw an expansion in the town’s transport with the opening of the railway line, which also marked Healesville’s birth as a tourist destination.
With 143 years of business history in Healesville, it’s not surprising that it has so much to offer.
