TWO Hoddles Creek Primary School girls have become state champions after taking part in an orienteering event in Healesville
Monique, Alyssa, Billie and Hannah were among 12 students from Hoddles Creek Primary School who took part in the Orienteering Victoria State Championships on Friday 15 November.
The event drew students from more than 30 schools across the state to Maroondah Reservoir Park.
Hoddles Creek’s Monique and Alyssa won the Grade Six Pairs section, taking home the championship for their group.
Alyssa said that she and Monique worked well as a team and took 34 minutes and 14 seconds to find all of the checkpoints in the challenge.
Billie and Hannah were runners-up in their sections in the championship event.
Hoddles Creek Primary School principal John McKelvie said that the win was a great effort for the small Yarra Valley school.
